OJ Simpson’s estate has agreed to a multi-million-dollar settlement with Fred Goldman, the father of Ron Goldman, who was murd£red alongside Nicole Brown Simpson in June 1994 outside Nicole’s Brentwood home.
O.J. was tried for the k!llings but was acquitted after a long, highly publicized trial that stretched for more than a year.
In 1995, both the Goldman and Brown families filed wrongful de@th suits and won a judgment of over $33 million. However, only a small portion of that sum was ever paid.
OJ Simpson di£d in April 2024 at age 76. Three months after his passing, Fred Goldman filed a claim for $57,997,858.12, plus judgment interest, according to documents obtained by People and filed by estate executor Malcolm LaVergne in the Clark County District Court in Nevada.
LaVergne told TMZ the estate will pay as much as it can, noting that several valuable items that could’ve been auctioned were stolen. He added that lawyers are working to retrieve those items.
Fred Goldman initially filed for more than $117 million, but LaVergne disputed the interest calculations. Court filings show both parties will continue working toward a “more accurate” interest figure.
The Goldman family’s attorney emphasized that the estate acknowledging the debt isn’t the same as payment, saying it simply allows the probate process to move forward. They intend to closely monitor the proceedings.
The move marks a sharp turnaround from LaVergne’s earlier stance, where he vowed never to pay the Goldman family. He has now reversed course and formally acknowledged the claim.
