Former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has dismissed claims that he intends to run as a vice-presidential candidate in 2027, insisting that his focus remains on the presidency.

Speaking during an extended interaction on X, Obi reacted strongly when asked if he would consider being a running mate in the next general election.

“So I am flying all over the world to learn how to govern in order to be vice?” he asked. “I am not God. I am going all over the world. I went to Indonesia, spent over a week, even outside Jakarta, to see the president. Do you visit a president to learn how to be vice?”

Obi added that life is uncertain, noting that he might not even be alive by 2027, while recounting the risks he faces daily. He also revealed that he has been prevented from travelling out of Nigeria on several occasions.

Reaffirming his ambition, Obi stated clearly: “Peter Obi is contesting for the office of the President. I am not God. God knows tomorrow.”

He concluded by expressing confidence in his capacity to lead Nigeria, saying he possesses the “capacity, competence, and compassion” to change the country, backed by experience, study, and deliberate preparation.
