Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, Chris Okafor, has come under renewed public scrutiny following calls for him to temporarily step down amid the controversy involving actress Doris Ogala.

Reacting to Pastor Okafor’s public apology to Ogala during a church service on Sunday, December 28, Ossai Ovie Success, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, described the apology as commendable but insufficient.

According to Ossai, the cleric should vacate the pulpit for three months to allow time for reflection, discipline, and spiritual renewal. He argued that stepping aside would demonstrate accountability, integrity, and humility, stressing that as the founder of the church, Pastor Okafor is not above discipline.

He added that if a junior pastor faced similar allegations, suspension would likely follow, making it appropriate for Pastor Okafor to also take a temporary leave.

The comment has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some defending the pastor and others insisting that accountability should apply regardless of status.
