Cristiano Ronaldo has once again set his sights on history, declaring with confidence that he will reach the 1,000-goal mark in his career — and hinting that a return to European football remains possible.

The 40-year-old superstar took his career tally to 956 goals after scoring twice in Al-Nassr’s 3–0 win over Al Akhdoud on Saturday.

Speaking at an awards ceremony in Dubai on Sunday, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United forward made it clear that his hunger for the game is far from over.

“My passion is high and I want to continue,” Ronaldo said. “It doesn’t matter where I play — whether in the Middle East or Europe. I always enjoy playing football.”

He added confidently: “I will reach the number — 1,000 goals — for sure, if there are no injuries.”

Ronaldo’s brace also took his goal tally for the year to 40, marking the 14th different calendar year in which he has scored 40 or more goals — a record that underlines his longevity at the top.

His most prolific season remains 2013, when he scored 63 goals for club and country.

In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo admitted he believes he is one or two years away from retirement, but his latest comments suggest there may still be another European chapter before the final curtain falls.
