WWE legend John Cena has officially brought his iconic in-ring career to an end.
The 17-time world champion wrestled his final match on Saturday night, December 13, at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., closing the chapter on a historic 24-year career.
Cena’s farewell bout ended in a submission loss to former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther (Walter Hahn). The wrestling icon tapped out after being locked in a sleeper hold — marking his first submission defeat in 21 years.
As the bell rang, the arena rose to its feet in applause, with tributes pouring in across social media to honour one of WWE’s greatest superstars.
In a rare and emotional moment, the entire WWE locker room emerged to ringside to salute the retiring legend. Cena bowed in every direction, visibly moved as he acknowledged the standing ovation.
