President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to celebrate this year’s Christmas holiday responsibly, advising against the use of alcohol during the festive period.
The president gave the caution while speaking to journalists at his Lagos residence on Sunday, December 21. He called for moderation in celebrations and reassured Nigerians of his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity across the country.
According to Tinubu, the government remains determined to defeat banditry and terrorism.
He said:
“We will continue to pray to God Almighty that this Christmas will be a joyous one for every one of us. The coming holiday will not be a disaster for Nigeria. God will bless all of you.
You will stay in peace, rejoice in peace, dance in peace — no alcohol, no danger to anybody’s life.
Nigeria is making progress. God will bless you, will bless Lagos, bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I assure you, we will defeat banditry and terrorism. God bless you.”
