Agnes Bessem Okafor, the ex-wife of Pastor Chris Okafor, has reacted publicly to the clergyman’s recent emotional address in which he denied allegations and spoke about his divorce and children.
In a lengthy video, Bessem identified herself as the woman who married Okafor at 18, stating that their union was both traditional and legally recognized and produced four children. She insisted she was never a “side partner,” adding that witnesses to their wedding are still alive and aware of the marriage.
Bessem said she was the one who left the marriage, explaining that she could no longer endure what she described as his lifestyle and conduct, which she claimed brought shame to the church. According to her, she remained silent for over 14 years but decided to speak out after hearing what she called lies and half-truths in Okafor’s recent statements.
She accused the pastor of repeatedly misrepresenting his past, alleging she later discovered evidence that he had been previously married, something she said he denied while they were together. She claimed the discovery left her devastated, alleging she was deceived while young and vulnerable.
Bessem further alleged that she suffered abuse during the marriage and said she has hospital medical reports to support her claims. She stated that the final incident forced her to flee the home through a back gate after being physically attacked.
She also made allegations of infidelity, claiming Okafor impregnated multiple women during their marriage, including women she said were members of his church. She alleged that after she left, one of the women moved into the house and took over caring for the children.
