A heartbreaking video making the rounds online has shown the two friends and coaches of British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua who lost their lives in a fatal road accident in Ogun State.

The crash occurred on Monday, December 29, in Makun, Ogun State, when a Lexus SUV conveying Joshua, with registration number KRD 850 HN, collided with a stationary truck.

The two victims were said to have arrived in Nigeria shortly before the incident to spend the Christmas holiday with the boxer. Videos shared on social media captured their arrival at the Lagos airport, where they appeared cheerful and excited, looking forward to their time in the country before tragedy struck.

One of the deceased was identified as Sina Evovle, Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, while the other, known online as Healthy_Mindset (Laz), was his personal trainer. Both men were part of Joshua’s close inner circle and had travelled to Nigeria specifically to celebrate the festive season with him.

In a press release signed by Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Information and Strategy, preliminary reports confirmed that two male foreign nationals died at the scene.

Similarly, the Ogun State Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Afolabi Odunsi, attributed the crash to overspeeding and wrongful overtaking, stating that the driver reportedly overtook from the right-hand side before crashing into the stationary vehicle.
