Nigerian actress and on-air personality, Simidrey, has called out an airline over what she described as a traumatic travel experience that left her stranded in South Africa for more than 24 hours.

According to her, she had a fully paid and confirmed business class ticket but was repeatedly denied boarding due to what the airline claimed was an internal error. Despite her ticket showing as valid in the system, she was allegedly told that her name did not appear on the operating airline’s manifest.

She said she was placed on several waitlists and standby options, none of which materialised. The situation reportedly worsened when she was informed that only one seat was available on the next flight — in economy class — and that she would only be allowed to board if she agreed to sign a “voluntary downgrade” waiver, forfeiting her right to any compensation.

Simidrey described the condition as coercive, stressing that she paid for business class and was being forced to surrender her passenger rights simply to make it home after delays caused by the airline.

Adding to the distress, the actress revealed she is a breastfeeding mother trying to reunite with her baby, noting that the prolonged delay has been both physically exhausting and emotionally draining.

In an emotional video shared online, she called for urgent intervention and accountability, saying the treatment she received went beyond inconvenience and reflected a troubling lack of transparency, care, and responsibility.
