Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the appointment of five Special Advisers, including two former commissioners who previously served in his administration.
The appointments come barely 72 hours after a cabinet reshuffle, which saw the Commissioner for Sports, Christopher Green, redeployed to the Ministry of Justice as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.
In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr Honour Sirawoo, it was clarified that Green will continue to supervise the Ministry of Sports until a substantive Commissioner for Sports is appointed.
Among the newly appointed Special Advisers are Prof. Peter Medee, former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, and Barrister Eloka Tasie-Amadi, who previously served as Commissioner for Works. Both were affected by the recent Supreme Court judgment that recognised Martin Amaewhule as the legitimate Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The other appointees are Barrister Emmanuel Frank Fubara, Hon. Victor Ekaro, and Dr Darlington Oji.
According to the statement, the five Special Advisers will be sworn in on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, at 12:00 noon. Appointees are expected to be seated by 11:30 a.m.
