A Ghanaian content creator and self-acclaimed prophet, Evans Eshun, popularly known as Ebo Noah, has been remanded in police custody for two weeks by an Adentan Circuit Court following the adjournment of his case.
The court also ordered that Eshun undergo a psychiatric evaluation at the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital ahead of the next hearing. The assessment is expected to guide further proceedings as investigations continue.
The case has been adjourned to January 16, with the psychiatric report to be submitted before the court on that date.
Ebo Noah had claimed in August 2025 that he received a divine revelation predicting the end of the world, saying continuous rainfall lasting three years would begin on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. According to him, God instructed him to build an ark in preparation for a catastrophic flood.
As Christmas drew closer, several Christians reportedly visited the site of the ark, hoping to gain access and escape the impending disaster. On December 24, 2025, Eshun stated that the ark was about 80 per cent complete, insisting it would be the only place of refuge once the flood began.
However, on Christmas Day, when no flood occurred, he announced that he had received another revelation claiming the disaster would no longer happen. He added that God had instead instructed him to build more arks.
Following the failed prophecy, operatives of the Ghana Police Service’s Special Cyber Vetting Team arrested him on December 31, 2025, in the Weija-Gbawe area of Accra while he was live-streaming online.
He was detained over allegations of spreading online disinformation and was later arraigned in court on Friday, January 2, 2026.
Prosecutors charged him with false communication, deliberately misleading the public, and publishing false news, offences said to contravene Ghana’s criminal laws.
