American R&B singer Ray J has reportedly been admitted to a hospital in Las Vegas after developing a severe case of pneumonia accompanied by heart pain.

According to TMZ, a source close to the singer disclosed on Wednesday that Ray J was rushed to the hospital after complaining of chest discomfort. Doctors reportedly ordered X-rays and an echocardiogram, though test results were still pending at the time of the report.

Ray J, whose real name is William Ray Norwood Jr., has previously battled pneumonia. In October 2021, he was hospitalized in Miami with the same illness and was initially placed in the COVID-19 wing due to concerns it might be related to the virus.

At the time, the 44-year-old said he feared the worst.

“I thought it was over,” he recalled, adding that he prayed constantly during the ordeal.

After multiple negative COVID-19 tests, he was moved out of the COVID unit and later discharged. Sources said the singer believed his hectic schedule and frequent travel contributed to the illness and that the experience pushed him to take his health more seriously.

Friends close to the singer noted that the health scare left him deeply shaken but grateful to have recovered.
